Eletrician

The figure of the electrician in Australia requires careful understanding for those wanting to use it for immigration purposes. This profession is one of the most coveted in the broader field of building, since it is a job that is less taxing in terms of energy and more motivating in terms of professional development. The annual salary of an electrician with a full licence is between $80,000 and $120,000 a year.

Working as a technician in Australia

At the same time, the profession is also regulated in every minimal aspect: without a licence, you are not permitted to touch a single wire. For those who already have a complete profile from Europe, it is necessary first to do an OSTR, or recognition that the skills acquired overseas are compatible with the relevant Australia legislation, so as to enable the applicant to get a temporary licence. In any case, a period of supervision is stipulated before conferring the full licence. The whole process is divided into the following stages:

OSTR / Obtaining a temporary licence
Period of supervision (Australian Context Gap Training)
Obtaining the Australian qualification
Obtaining the definitive licence

Qualification: Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician
Skill Level: 3
Profession: 341111 ELECTRICIAN (GENERAL)
Course program: https://training.gov.au/Training/Details/UEE30807
Description: to qualify in this Profession you must complete a Certificate III such as Electrotechnology Technician, which enables you to get the full licence as an Electrician following a relatively complex process, which is only complete once you have sat a state exam supervised by Trade Recognition Australia. The process lasts 2 years and the course costs on average $10,000-$14,000 per year, depending on the chosen school. Recent reform of licences for teaching international students by ASQA has significantly reduced the number of schools able to offer this course. Completion of a Certificate III or the combination of Certificate III and Certificate IV in this subject for a duration of 92 weeks or more makes it compatible with a Post Graduate Visa (Subclass 485), which can be used to complete a Job Ready Program and prepare a sponsor or potentially transition to a permanent type of visa.
